Join us as we hear from two organizations that help people get jobs and support themselves.

JobTrain changes the lives of people in our community through accredited job training classes, counseling and placement services, teen programs, evening courses, and a child development center. JobTrain programs combine vocational skills with academics, English as a Second Language, counseling and job readiness workshops. During Fiscal Year 2007, 5000 people were helped through a JobTrain program.

Executive Director Sharon Williams will tell us how JobTrain works to help people make better lives for themselves and improve our communities. (presentation)

Project Hired assists people with disabilities in gaining competitive employment, through partnerships with industry. Project Hired trains their clients with job skills and interview skills, and helps them find jobs where they can contribute and excel. Average weekly earnings of project participants increase from $71/week prior to receiving services to $544/week following employment.

Project HIRED's CEO, Marie Bernard, will tell us how the program works and how it helps both the clients and participating companies. (presentation)
