Join us for an exciting discussion as we hear from two organizations that help low-income people invest in themselves.

Glow Foundation provides financial education, mentoring, and "unmet need" scholarships to high potential, college-ready students from under-resourced communities. Founded in 2006, Glow has provided financial education over 150 students and aims to scale its model to reach thousands.

Founder Adam Marchick will explain how Glow gives students the knowledge, tools, and support to fund their college education. (presentation)

Opportunity Fund (formerly Lenders For Community Development) invests in people who are working to build financial, personal and shared assets in low-income communities throughout the Bay Area. Their programs incorporate housing, savings, credit, and financial literacy, making it possible for their clients to build assets-- a home, a small business, an education. 85% percent of small business owners who received a loan from Opportunity Fund in 2001-2005 still own their business versus the national statistic of 44%.

Founding Executive Director Eric Weaver will explain Opportunity Fund's approach to helping low-income individuals join the middle class. (presentation)
